Quitting is Progress

Shift, Pivot, Change Course, Take the Leap, Go for it. Our pursuits bring us to many decision points:  to stay or go, keep going or quit, cancel or recommit, go for it, face the future with positivity and possibility. Our process removes the stigma behind quitting in favor of a thorough examination of the value it may bring, the improvement in satisfaction, or the time and energy it might just save.

When it’s personal, the important point is to find meaning in a society whose values are not always our own. Sometimes we don’t even realize we are simply trudging along without listening to our intuition.   Needless to say we get mixed signals on what do to next.

When it’s business, we just need some help to see beyond black and white options.

After years in a corporate career, my work of the last 15 years has focused building meaning into my work and finding meaningful work.   Having practiced Mindfulness and meditation for the last 20 years, focusing on the bare reality, and honoring my true beliefs has been a rewarding journey.

Grounding thoughts and decisions in the five remembrances of Buddhism, I am more peaceful and confident in my life’s pursuits.   The five remembrances in their simplest form are:

I am of the nature to grow old. I cannot escape old age.

I am of the nature of ill health. I cannot avoid ill health

I am of the nature to die. I cannot escape death

All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature change, I cannot escape being separated from them.

I inherit the results of my actions in body, speech and mind – My actions are my only true belongings.

The value in the five remembrances is that we let go of illusions of “having it all.”  We can embrace ideas of mindful living, meaning beyond work, and meaningful work.  Too many of us make a decision to “stick with” a course of action, down playing or watering down our desires as too difficult to pursue.  Whatever limitations you think you might have, there is always a third option.   It’s time to embrace our best intentions and explore the options that can bring you to your best self.  Let us help you explore and develop your next phase and uncover the most meaningful criteria of all, the best course of action for you and those you care about.
